I can’t find the snooze button anymore.

May 19, 2009 at 11:04 pm (Uncategorized)

Oh, hey guys. It’s come to my attention that people actually read this in its short lived prime. So, what the heck, I need a reason to pick up my needles again anyway as college has hijacked my life. Reading over these, I should update on some things that have happened since February ’08.

-I moved out of big crazy punk house of 12 people and now live in an apartment where the craziest thing that happens is I sometimes get to wake up to baked zucchini muffins by my awesome housemate Kate.
-I no longer am dating Jeremy, nor anyone else for that matter.
-I go to massage therapy school these days, and it’s a lot harder than it sounds so further updates will be sporadic and I’ll probably complain that my hands hurt too much from rubbing people to pick up knitting needles.

Hm, I don’t know, I’m afraid this shit might’ve jumped the shark and me updating this will be futile, but if I come up with a good enough comeback, you all will be the first to see it, promise. (Any ideas?)

As if you all couldn’t tell (assuming anyone really reads this,) this shit’s on hiatus. I moved into a new haus and I’ve yet to unpack, so all of my knitting needles/yarn/etc. has been packed in boxes since late January. Sorry dudes, smell ya later.

Zine updates

December 14, 2007 at 2:37 pm (zine)

So I bagged that last cover idea (I don’t know if I can deal with more than one visual pun), so here’s the new one:

fytcover5.jpg

I’m not sure if I should include a “how to” section, ’cause it’d take up a lot of the zine. I’unno, thoughts?

In it will be patterns for:
-Minor Threat doll
-Operation Ivy sweatervest
-Bad Brains pin cushion
-Descendents coffee sleeve
-Black Flag vibrator cozy
-Minor Threat bag
-Straight Edge cropped jacket (I haven’t posted this yet)

I want a couple more but I’m kinda stuck.

Oh yeah, we got the computer back, if you couldn’t tell.

What’s been up

December 8, 2007 at 12:51 am (Uncategorized)

So since my last project a few things have happened:

1) Our new computer turned out to be fucked up so we had to bring it back and we are STILL waiting for it to come back

2) Debbie Stoller’s Son of Stitch n Bitch came out, my boyfriend requested that I make him a sweater for Christmas so that’s where my knitting efforts have gone towards.

3) I didn’t win the Craftster challenge :[ but honestly the project wasn’t really done, I’ll post it when it meets my expectations.

4) I MET IAN MACKAYE. Seriously.

5) I’ve been working at my local women’s self defense center and it’s been the most gratifying thing ever.

6) I’m dropping out of SVA and taking the semester off to work.

So, there you have it, my reasons for not updating at all. The computer should be back tomorrow and shortly after you can expect a big update.

However, I must admit, I feel a little run dry from punk knitting, I have no more ideas, anyone care to contribute?

More computer problems, I’m not dead, don’t worry. I’ve nearly finished an entry for the latest craftster challenge which I’ll be posting here, too.

“Out of Step” bag

October 28, 2007 at 1:44 am (bag, minor threat)

We got a new computer that has already given us more problems than we bargained for. However, at least now I can show you my favorite bag as of late.

(My boyfriend was taking a million shots of this which got really embarrassing. Check out the Alec MacKaye doll hanging out next to my head!)

Strap action shot!

I might suggest that if any of you make this once I put out the pattern in the zine, maybe you don’t want to make it white. It got real dirty real fast and was a serious coffee spill magnet.

Also, I should really learn to buy more yarn than I think is appropriate, because I always run out. I’m in the middle of at least three wearables that I can think of that are on hold because I ran out of yarn. Oh well, the latest one I’m entering in a craftster.org challenge, so it’ll be impressive.

Sneak peak…

October 14, 2007 at 6:41 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m in the bottom right corner with the knitted hat (by yours truly) and black hoodie. Check the bag, you’ll get better pictures of it soon, though I’m sure many of you can tell what it is.

Just to check in — who’s actually reading these updates lately? No comments since the vibrator cozy. Hmmm…

Robbed

October 13, 2007 at 4:42 pm (text-only)

Hey guys, I have some bad news.

Yesterday someone kicked in the door to our apartment and jacked our laptop. Luckily, this was the only thing stolen, but that does mean updates are going to slow down a bit. Hopefully we’ll be able to afford a new one soon.

Here’s some humor about the situation: First of all, I left for school at around 11, Jeremy and Adam left the apartment not long after that, I got a call at 2 saying we got robbed. Which means this person broke into our apartment midday (who does that?) Not only that, but there was 15 bucks and a bag of weed (not mine) next to the laptop, and they didn’t even grab those two things. We also have 4 guitars hanging up on our walls, all of them are fine. Cameras are untouched, the guy didn’t even take the attachments to the laptop OR the charger. Not to mention, that laptop is worthless. It has stickers all over it, the only web browser that works is a really shitty one that you have to figure out. No one’s really that upset about the laptop, it’s just scary that someone broke into our apartment.

I’ll update when I can, I’m still diligently working.

I don’t wanna hear anymore about money…

October 7, 2007 at 1:14 am (text-only)

(… but I need it anyway.)

¬†Okay, so I haven’t gotten a job since I moved to Brooklyn and college is eating up my bank account. I have tons of leftover yarn from the projects I’ve posted here. What I’m getting at is, I can easily make duplicates of the things I’ve posted here. If anyone is interested in perhaps buying anything, leave a comment with what it is (this doesn’t mean you’re obligated to buy anything — I just want to get an idea of which projects will sell better than others so I know about how many of each to make.) I’ll post an entry later with what’s available and new projects (including some wearables… though I probably won’t make duplicates of those. Well, at least not all of them.)

Everything will be considerably cheap, I promise.

Oh, I have something to post soon, I just have to wait for it to come out of the wash (I spilled coffee on it,) and I made a new cover for the zine (I ditched the one I posted before.)

Also, if anyone has any new ideas for projects, drop a line. I have a few that are in the works, but I could always use new ideas.

“Slip It In” Vibrator Cozy

September 21, 2007 at 2:45 am (black flag, vibrator cozy)

Okay, I warned everyone. I said, “if I ever talk about making a ‘slip it in’ vibator cozy, don’t let me.” Upon warning my friend Hobart (who I attend our weekly Stitch n Bitch with), he suggested, “what if you made it look like the nun?” I think it’s fair to say that that was something I simply had to do.

And so.

And so the whole world can see what kind of a vibrator I have:

Also, this has nothing to do with knitting but if you guys are into reading about punk/hardcore history at all and thought American Hardcore didn’t measure up, I suggest picking up Dance of Days, I just picked it up and so far it’s really extensive and seems promising.
